Scheduled Meetings

The Friends of Julian Abele Park officially meet eight (8) times a year. Meetings are generally held on the 1st Wednesday of the following months, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2040 Christian Street, from 6:30-7:30pm. OUR EIGHT (8) REGULARLY-SCHEDULED* YEARLY MEETINGS ARE NORMALLY HELD IN:

Mission Statement

Julian F. Abele Park is for the enjoyment and betterment of the community by maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for all to appreciate.

Membership and Community Representation

General membership is open to all people of all ages – with emphasis on those neighbors residing in the areas bound by Schuylkill Avenue to the West, South Street to the North, Broad Street to the East and Washington Avenue to the South. However, to be a voting member you must be 18 years old and a registered volunteer who either:

  1. attends 50% of FRIENDS of JULIAN ABELE PARK meetings; or,

  2. attends 25% of FRIENDS OF JULIAN ABELE PARK meetings; and,

    • actively participates in three officially scheduled PARK clean-ups in a given year; or,

    • actively participates in (8) hours of PARK clean-ups in a given year; and,

  3. Contribute $20 per year membership dues.
